Emergency services teams are responding to multiple reports of a ‘loud bang’ in Huyton tonight.

Residents reported hearing what sounded like a ‘massive explosion’ before seeing the ‘whole sky’ lit up outside.

The explosion could be heard for miles, and residents of Prescot and Whiston also reported hearing the noise.

Merseyside Police have confirmed they are aware of “numerous reports” of a “big bang” that sounds “like a big bang”.

The Force Incident Manager confirmed that several residents reported hearing the same noise and that officers are working to establish its source.

Patrols are currently in the area trying to identify the circumstances surrounding the explosion.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue also shipped appliances to Tarbock Road, near a wooded area, after police called them.

Residents also reported feeling their ‘houses shaking’ as far away as Rainhill.
