Police are pursuing a gunman after a bullet was fired in a university lecture hall with students inside.
Patrols intensified and a fingertip search was conducted after it happened on the Paget Road campus of the city of Wolverhampton College on Monday, September 28.
West Midlands Police told BlackCountryLive that two shots were heard and a bullet went through a conference room window and hit the wall shortly after 2.30pm.
Students and staff were immediately relocated to safety by staff and the police were called.
No one in the room was injured.
Officers were tracking CCTV to identify where the shots were coming from, a spokesperson confirmed.
Chief Insp Hasson Shigdar of the Wolverhampton Police Unit said: “We are deeply concerned that a firearm was fired in broad daylight in the vicinity of the university and also a primary school. We are doing everything do everything possible to locate those responsible and I would ask anyone with information to contact us urgently.
“We do not believe that anyone was attacked at the university as the view of the building is restricted, however we have increased our patrols to offer peace of mind to students and residents of the area.
“We have contacted the university, which is also supporting its students and staff.”
