The M1 has been closed in both directions in Leicester due to an ongoing truck fire.
Fire crews were called to the southbound carriageway near Leicester Forest East Services just after 6 a.m. today, and the fire was still burning an hour later.
The freeway is closed in both directions from Exit 22 in Markfield to Exit 21 in Fosse Park and that is causing widespread traffic problems.
The A46 has congestion at the access to the M1, as does the M69, and there are also queues on the M1, both north and south.
Leicester’s Outer Ring Road is heavily congested, especially the southbound portion along the northbound New Parks Way and Lubbesthorpe Way.
