What the Met Office says about a ‘White Christmas’ in Yorkshire
This morning, Meteorological Office meteorologist Alex Burkill said there is a chance that parts of Yorkshire could wake up tomorrow to a White Christmas.
Amid widespread frost, some areas could receive snow showers.
He said: “So in the Lincolnshire, Yorkshire area, maybe even East Anglia, there could be some showers for the first few hours and with the cold weather it’s not unreasonable that there could be a wintry element in those few rains they could be falling like sleet or snow.
“They will be very light, scattered, not everywhere you will see them in any way, and in most areas it will be a pretty dry day, just cold.
“But there is a possibility that we will see some snow showers in the eastern parts of England, especially early on Christmas Day.
“Technically, it could be a white Christmas there, but what we can be pretty sure of is that there is not going to be widespread snow, people are not going to wake up to those picturesque layers of snow that many people expect.”
