England’s Health Secretary Matt Hancock will make a statement before the House of Commons this afternoon.
It is expected to cover the latest news on lock levels as well as Wales’ decision to introduce a two week ‘firewall’ lock from Friday.
Drakeford told a Welsh government press conference in Cardiff that the move was necessary to reduce the spread of the coronavirus and prevent the NHS from being overwhelmed.
In the meantime, an announcement about Manchester’s shift to Level 3 is expected to be made in the next 36 hours.
Another 76 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died at a hospital in England, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths reported in hospitals to 31,047, NHS England said today.
The patients were between 47 and 99 years old. All but one, aged 85, had known underlying diseases.
The deaths occurred between October 9 and 18. Two other deaths were reported with no positive Covid-19 test result.
Hancock is expected to begin his statement at 4.30pm.
