Caerphilly County will be put under a local lockdown on Tuesday, September 8, the Government of Wales announced.

The new regulations will apply to everyone living within the Caerphilly County district area, and will take effect from 6 pm on Tuesday.

What do the new Caerphilly local blocking rules mean?

The Welsh government says the regulations, which will be enforced by the police and the city council, will remain under review, but new measures will be considered if there is no decrease in cases.
It comes after community testing was introduced in Caerphilly over the weekend. On Saturday, about 450 people were tested and 19 tested positive, a positivity rate of 4%, indicating that the virus is circulating in the community. A similar number of people were tested on Sunday and results are expected shortly.
