Amazon has kicked off its annual Prime Day sale, with discounts on thousands of lines, as it seeks to cash in on bargain-hungry Brits.
The shopping event, which launches Tuesday, offers big savings and free delivery for its most loyal customers.
This year, the ‘sale’ will last 48 hours and members will be able to access discounts on a variety of products.
Expect to see thousands of deals, with deep discounts on Amazon Alexa-enabled devices.
There will also be flash deals, where you can get a bargain on certain products for a limited time only.
The online retail giant said savers can get up to 50% off items, with discounts on televisions, kindles and smart home devices.
But smart spenders can unlock an additional 20% savings by shopping in the right place.
It all has to do with Amazon Warehouse, which offers additional discounts in stores throughout the year.
Right now, it’s offering an additional 20% discount for Prime Day, which means you can get an additional discount on already reduced items.
But to take advantage of the offers, you’ll need to become a Prime member, which costs £ 79 a year.
Amazon Prime Day started in 2015 as a flash sale of primarily tech products and usually takes place in July.
However, this year it begins on October 13 and will last 48 hours.
In 2019, Prime Day was the largest shopping event in Amazon history, selling over 100,000 laptops, 200,000 TVs, and more than 1 million toys.
But the sale also drew heavy criticism for Amazon’s treatment of warehouse workers.

Tim Hunt, director of Ethical Consumer, said consumers should take their businesses elsewhere.
“Aside from tax evasion, Amazon has a dubious track record on many issues, including worker rights and the environment. We urge consumers to think about whether they really need to make that purchase on Amazon Prime Day and how they can instead. use your money in a way that benefits society and the environment.
“There are several more ethical reputable brands that pay a fairer tax rate, including Richer Sounds and Lush cosmetics (both have received the fair tax mark). We call on consumers who need to shop to seek more ethical companies how are you “.
An Amazon spokesperson said this year’s Prime Day would see its “biggest promotion for small businesses.”
“We are investing heavily in job creation and infrastructure across the UK – over £ 23bn since 2010. The UK has now become one of Amazon’s largest global hubs for talent and this year we announced plans to create 10,000 new jobs in the country by the end of 2020, bringing our total workforce to more than 40,000.
“This ongoing investment helped contribute to a total tax contribution of £ 1.1 billion during 2019: £ 293 million in direct taxes and £ 854 million in indirect taxes.”
