Lewis Hamilton hopes to have more opportunities to prove people wrong in the future, following his season-opener win in Bahrain.
Hamilton and Mercedes have been the dominant force in Formula 1 during the turbo hybrid era, with the constructor winning all seven championships in that time, and Hamilton taking six of them as a driver.
His dominance has probably led to the most controversial topic in recent history in the sport: Is Hamilton winning the World Championship because of his strength as a driver or is it the car itself that does most of the work?
Those who doubt Hamilton may have been proven wrong on the first race weekend of the 2021 season as he held off immense pressure from Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, who had looked stronger over the course of testing. and the weekend of the race, and it was the favorite of many people heading into the Bahrain Grand Prix.
When asked if he thinks his performance proved people wrong, Hamilton said: “I think it was definitely a blessing, maybe in disguise. I think there is always an opportunity, opportunities to prove people wrong, and I like to think that it was definitely one of them.
“But I think there have been several in the past, there have been many in the past, obviously, I have been here for a long time, but I hope there are many opportunities in the future to be able to show what I am. able to make.”

The Hamilton-Verstappen fight was fascinating to watch, and it seemed highly likely that the German would overtake the Mercedes man with just a few laps to go and he did, but not legally.
In his overtaking on lap 53, all four wheels of his RB16B went off the track, and race control quickly ordered him to return to Hamilton because of the “lasting advantage” he had gained.
From then on, Sir Lewis clung to victory, but acknowledges that he needed that little bit of luck to be on top of the podium.
He said: “Of course we were lucky that Max opened at Turn 4, but that won’t happen again, I’m pretty sure so we have to do better.
“We have to get smarter and how to navigate our weekends with the fact that we don’t have the fastest car right now, but that’s very good for me.
“I don’t mind having to get more to make a difference.”
