Jurgen Klopp has stated that Liverpool will look to “fight back” against Arsenal on Monday at Anfield.
The Reds have tasted defeat in each of their last two meetings with the Gunners.
Mikel Arteta’s men’s first victory came in the Premier League in July, when Alexandre Lacazette and Reiss Nelson canceled Sadio Mane’s first goal.
Liverpool had already been confirmed as national champions when the clash came and their form had dropped, but it will naturally give Arsenal hope that they can do it again.
Another mitigating factor in the result was that there were defensive errors, goalkeeping errors and a frustrating inability to make the most of the possession stripes, something that has not happened often with Klopp.
A second loss for the world champions came at Wembley at the Community Shield in August after a 1-1 draw was resolved on penalties, and that game came in the middle of what can only be described as a rather stormy preseason.
“The results give confidence,” Klopp said.
“But the analysis is there so that you can judge the games in the right way.
“It’s not like Arsenal crushed us and we had absolutely no chance, so they know it’s a different game and we know it’s a different game.
“So the last result, in this case, it was not long ago, it is only information and not the only one.”
Liverpool have started the new Premier League campaign with back-to-back victories, alongside Arsenal, but Klopp has promised that his team will seek to avenge the results of the last two meetings between the two sides.
“We want to fight back,” Klopp added.
“Let me put it like this: that is the situation we are in and it may be a better situation depending on how we use it.”
