Leeds is now under stricter coronavirus rules that align the city with neighboring Covid-19 hotspots of Bradford, Calderdale and Kirklees.
The Leeds City Council yesterday announced improved rules for the city prohibiting certain gatherings and gatherings. Breaking those rules could land you a £ 200 fine, which will double each time you’re caught again, up to a maximum fine of £ 6,400.
Some of the rules, however, are advisory and you won’t be fined for ignoring them.
However, we recommend that you follow these rules as it will help reduce the spread of the deadly virus and if infection rates remain low, the rules may be relaxed.

Please note: you are still advised NOT to do these things to reduce the spread of coronavirus.
- Meeting people you don’t live with in outdoor places, like parks
- Meeting people you don’t live with in pubs, cafes, restaurants, and other covered public places
- Visiting friends or family in residences
You must follow these rules if Leeds City Council empties its containers, even if it has a BD or WF zip code.
The rule of six
Meeting more than five other people is illegal and the police have the power to enforce these legal limits, including to issue fines (notices of flat fines) of £ 200, which are doubled for additional infractions up to a maximum of £ 6,400.
