Newcomers to the Premier League have made the attacking midfielder a prime target ahead of the 2020-21 campaign
Leeds are eager to continue their summer spending spree, as newcomers to the Premier League have started talks with Udinese to sign Rodrigo De Paul. objective has learned.
The Serie A team is demanding € 30 million (£ 27 million / $ 36 million) for the 26-year-old attacking midfielder and is also being monitored by some of the best Italian teams.
De Paul signed a contract extension with Udinese last October and is linked to the club until 2024. The Argentine international moved to Italy from Valencia in 2016 and has played 146 games in all competitions, scoring 25 goals.
The championship winners are eager to take it to Elland Road, as coach Marcelo Bielsa believes it will strengthen his team heading into the 2020-21 campaign.
The former Racing Club star is the Argentine manager’s main midfield target this summer and could be the next addition in a busy transfer window for Leeds.
Earlier this week, the English team reached an agreement to sign 29-year-old forward Rodrigo Moreno from Valencia on a € 30 million contract.
That announcement was followed by the arrival of 18-year-old Arsenal forward Sam Greenwood, who pledged to a three-year contract, before beating Tottenham by signing Robin Koch for 13 million pounds ($ 17 million) from the German team from Freiburg.
Meanwhile, Helder Costa moved to the newly promoted team from the Wolves and 20-year-old goalkeeper Illan Meslier, who made 11 first-team appearances while on loan at Leeds last season, joined permanently from Lorient.
Jack Harrison will spend a third consecutive season at the club after returning on loan from Manchester City.
Bielsa’s team is also going after Brighton defender Ben White, but three offers have been rejected so far this summer, with the latest round believed to be 25 million pounds ($ 32 million). However, Leeds is just one of several high-level teams trying to land the 22-year-old center-back.
Additionally, the Rangers have rejected a recent approach from Ryan Kent, with Steven Gerrard rejecting his offer as “very, very far” from the Scottish team’s asking price.
Bielsa’s Leeds will start their Premier League campaign with an away game against reigning champions Liverpool, followed by a home clash with Fulham a week later.
