Nearly 450 new coronavirus cases have been recorded in Leicester and Leicestershire in the past 24 hours.
The Department of Health and Human Care has updated daily new infection totals showing 293 new infections across the county and 150 in the city.
That’s five cases less that was reported yesterday in the eight areas of the council .
Charnwood recorded 65 new infections today and there were 47 in both Blaby and Hinckley and Bosworth.
North West Leicestershire reported 40 new cases with 35 in Oadby and Wigston and 34 in Harborough
Melton had the fewest positive tests in the county over 24 hours with 25 cases.
The new cases, updated today at 4:44 PM, mean that the total number of cases in the city and county since the onset of the pandemic area by area are :

The updated figures come as Health Secretary Matt Hancock confirmed that the city and county would remain under Level 3 restrictions from Boxing Day when more stringent Level 4 measures are imposed in other parts of the country.
