The houses have been shaking after a 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck Nevada in the early hours of this morning.
The quake struck 57 km northwest of Tonopah in Nevada, shortly after 3 am local time.
The impact of the earthquake was also felt in the neighboring state of California, where houses shook.
The geological study said the depth of the earthquake was 7.6 km.
Videos shared online showed the power of the natural phenomenon, with lights swaying back and forth as the ground moves beneath people’s homes.

One man described the peculiar sensation of tremors moving his bed.
“I just finished riding the shock waves from an earthquake that occurred a few minutes ago in Nevada,” he posted.
“For about 30-45 seconds, I felt as if two people on either side of the bed were beginning to sway from side to side.
“I looked at my closet area and noticed my hangers swaying!”
Another man was awakened by his wobbly home believing that the boars had caused the shaking.
“I felt something a little while ago in Northern California, it woke me up, I thought it was the boars again, but I couldn’t find any of them,” he wrote.
An average of five earthquakes with magnitudes between 6.0 and 7.0 occur per year in California and Nevada, according to a recent sample of three-year data.
A person in Fallon, Nevada, 100 miles from the epicenter, said they had to “hold on to my bed to stay on that trip” due to the force of the tremors.
Another person 220 miles away in Walnut Creek, California said that the chimes on her grandfather clock were swaying back and forth rather than side to side.
