The exhibition fight between Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr is about to begin and the rules of the match have been revealed.

While the reunion of two retired legends has certainly got the world talking, it won’t be a normal fight with a few different rules for the elder duo.

What are the rules for Tyson vs Jones Jr?

With both fighters over the age of 50, the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) has established a set of rules on the fight that includes that it will take place over eight two-minute rounds.

The former champions rejected the option of wearing head protectors, so CSAC stated that a total fight time of 16 minutes must be met considering their age.

The fighters will also wear gloves larger than 12 ounces in the hopes of minimizing the damage caused.

CSAC CEO Andy Foster has said they will stop the competition if a cut appears on either fighter and neither should go for a knockout.

However, Triller, the social media channel promoting the fight, has released a statement insisting that KOs are allowed.

The CSAC will also not have judges present, but the WBC will have Christy Martin, Vinny Pazienza and Chad Dawson scoring the match.

This trio of former WBC champions will not be in the ring and will judge remotely unofficially.

The winner will be given a special ‘Frontline Battle Belt’ with the inscription ‘Black Lives Matter’, but the result will not diminish the professional history of either of them.
