The Dutch manager is a huge fan of the Liverpool midfielder after spending two years working with him as coach of the Netherlands.
Without a resolution on a new contract at Anfield, there have been more reports linking the 29-year-old to a move out of Merseyside.
Koeman recently signaled his intention to sign the 29-year-old in the January transfer window. but Barcelona could have competition.
90min He affirms that Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan have “made their interest clear” while Barcelona “have not lost hope of signing the Dutch star.”
Apparently, the Catalan giants have “told the player’s representatives that they will return to the table in January, when they can open talks on a free transfer before next summer.”
However, Liverpool are eager to keep Wijnaldum on their books and Klopp urged the Reds board to tie him to a new deal.
90min He adds that Liverpool and Wijnaldum “are still somewhat separated in an agreement to extend their contract” and that the Dutchman wants “a weekly base salary of £ 120,000, an increase of more than 50% from what he currently earns.”
Liverpool see their demands as ‘steep’ but Klopp ‘has made it clear to club negotiators that he does not want to lose one of their most trusted midfielders.’
Wijnaldum is understood to “prefer” to remain at Anfield and Klopp is trying to persuade the club’s management that it represents a “sensible long-term investment”.
So Patrick Bamford got us thinking of absolutely random hat-trick scorers in the Premier League. Justice for “busy” Kevin Lisbie.
