A KIDS nursery and school were closed today after a man was apparently seen carrying a firearm, prompting a huge police response.
The police officers rushed to the Surrey village of Bagshot and confirmed that they were investigating an “incident”.
A parent shared an apparent message from Bagshot Nursery School saying they had learned of a “suspicious incident” in the area.
The school was urged to “lock it up” and said they were told they could not release the children until they were cleared.
Surrey police later said that no one was found who matched the man’s description and that the blocking mesuares could now be raised.
The message from the school read: “Dear Parents and Caregivers, We have been informed of a suspicious incident in the vicinity and recommended to close the school.
“All children and staff are safe and sound and the lessons continue as normal.
“Until they give us the go-ahead, we cannot free the children.
“Please wait for more updates before coming to pick up your children. Please do not call the school to make sure we keep our phone lines open.”
At the time, Surrey Police said: “Officers are on the scene in an incident. At this time, we are unable to provide further information.
“If and when we can post more information, we will do so on our social media pages and / or website.”
