The long-running reality TV show about the Kardashian family is coming to an end, announced Kim Kardashian West.
“It is with great regret that we have made the difficult decision as a family to say goodbye to Keeping Up With The Kardashians,” he said in a statement posted on Twitter.
The show has been running for 14 years and turned Kim, her siblings, parents, partners and children into global mega stars.
The final season, 21, will air in early 2021.
Expressing her appreciation to the “thousands of people and businesses” involved in the show, Kim also added, “I am incredibly grateful to everyone who has watched and supported me and my family over these past 14 incredible years.”
“This program made us who we are and I will always be indebted to all who played a role in shaping our careers and changing our lives forever,” he continued.
Most of the family was unknown when the show began in 2007. Kim had appeared in a few episodes of her friend Paris Hilton’s reality show and her lawyer father, Robert, was known for defending OJ Simpson in his infamous murder trial. Robert Kardashian died in 2003.
The first few shows focused on the lives of Kim and her sisters Kourtney and Khloe and their partners, including Kourtney’s ex-boyfriend Scott Disick, Kim’s ex-husband Kris Humphries, and Khloe’s ex-husband Lamar Odom.
She eventually brought in “mom” Kris Jenner, her now ex-husband Caitlyn Jenner, then the only famous figure on the show, as Bruce Jenner, the Olympic gold medal-winning decathlete, and his stepsisters Kylie and Kendall Jenner.
Despite being heavily criticized by critics and accused of making people famous for being famous, the show has enjoyed high ratings, won awards, and was one of the shows on E! channel’s most successful shows.
The 39-year-old Kim has since become one of the most famous women in the world, with hundreds of millions of followers on social media and a thriving beauty business. She married rapper Kanye West in 2014, with whom she has three children and a joint net worth of more than $ 1 billion. Recently, she spoke about her husband’s mental health issues after a series of erratic statements from him when he began running for president of the United States.
Kendall and Kylie Jenner were children when the show began in 2007, but they became stars in their own right and now, at the ages of 24 and 23, they are among the most influential people in the world. Kylie Jenner in 2019 was named by Forbes magazine as the youngest billionaire of all time thanks to her popular cosmetics business.

After news broke of the show’s demise, Khloe Kardashian tweeted: “Emotions are overflowing today … change is difficult but sometimes necessary.”
A spokesperson for E! said in a statement to CNN: “While it has been an absolute privilege and will be missed with all our hearts, we respect the family’s decision to live their lives without our cameras.”
