Former Tottenham defender Kieran Trippier says Arsenal’s newest player Thomas Partey will have no trouble settling into the Emirates as he is “one of the best midfielders” he has played with.

Arsenal completed a £ 45 million deal for the 27-year-old on the deadline after the Gunners activated a release clause in Ghanian’s contract.

Partey has been a target for the club for the past three years and has more than quadrupled his salary by moving to North London where he will earn £ 250,000 a week.

Trippier played alongside Partey for a season at Atlético de Madrid and despite his ties to rivals Spurs, the England defender says the midfielder will light up the Premier League.

“It’s incredible, his physique, how he breaks the game,” Trippier said.

Technically it has it all. He is one of the best midfielders I have ever played with.

He speaks perfect English. I don’t think I have a problem with the Premier League. ‘

Atlético was said to be furious at Arsenal for the way they signed Partey.

Although no negotiations were needed between the two clubs as Arsenal only needed to activate Partey’s release clause, Atlético felt it was courteous for the Gunners to notify them of their intentions.

However, Arsenal activated the clause only 32 minutes before the transfer window closed.
