Khabib Nurmagomedov was quick to react to the UFC 249 main event.
As the Russian was unable to return to the United States and his fight with Tony Ferguson was rejected for the fifth time, Justin Gaethje stepped forward with a surprising performance inside the Octagon.
‘The Highlight’ ended Ferguson’s 12-game winning streak to become the interim UFC lightweight champion and be next in line for Khabib, 28-0 in MMA.
And the Dagestan fighter wrote, “No comment” on Twitter immediately after seeing the fight stop in the fifth and final round when referee Herb Dean decided that Ferguson had received enough punishment.
‘The Eagle’ then praised Gaethje for his impressive display and “very smart” fight.
Gaethje, who secured his 24th victory in MMA, removed his belt almost immediately and declared that he wanted “the real one” that Khabib has had since he defeated Al Iaquinta at UFC 223.
The Russian is one of the best in the world, but from what we saw tonight, you get the feeling that Gaethje has what it takes to hang out with him.
Khabib vs Gaethje cannot come soon enough.
