Hundreds of KFC restaurants have reopened across the UK to deliver food during the shutdown, with social distancing measures introduced in stores to keep staff and customers safe.

They include keeping people two meters away and involve “contactless delivery” of food.

The photos sent to Bristol Live, however, show the delivery riders ignoring the measures, grouped together while waiting to pick up orders.

‘LOOKING INSIDE’

A KFC spokesperson told Sun Online: “We have introduced new measures to make sure we reopen responsibly for both our team members and delivery drivers.

“These include floor stickers and clear signage to help delivery drivers follow the social distancing orientation as well as contactless food delivery.

“It is nice to see how much we have missed, and we are grateful to our teams for working hard to meet demand!

“We are investigating what happened at our Filton restaurant and our delivery partners are following their drivers in the area to remind them of these new processes.”

It’s unclear who the delivery drivers worked for, but a sticker at the Filton restaurant says Deliveroo is among them.

A Deliveroo spokesperson said: “Our driver support team is in constant contact with passengers about the importance of respecting social distancing, including strict guidance and standards to follow.

“This includes regular notices within our passenger app to remind passengers of the importance of free contact delivery, social distancing and hand washing.”

“We have made it clear that if a user is found not to be complying with these important public health measures, through reports from other users, customers, restaurant staff or local government officials, they will no longer be able to work with Deliveroo.”
