Kevin De Bruyne will miss Manchester City’s “next games” due to a muscle problem, according to Pep Guardiola, although the coach has Sergio Agüero back in training.
De Bruyne retired from the Belgium squad this week, having been substituted in a 2-1 loss to England at Wembley on Sunday, and will likely miss Arsenal’s visit to Etihad Stadium on Saturday. City will then play Porto on Wednesday in the Champions League, before traveling to West Ham next Saturday, and Guardiola suggested that the midfielder will not bounce back for those matches either.
“I do not know [exactly how long] It is not much, but in the next games he will be out, ”he said.
Of Agüero, who suffered a serious knee injury in June, Guardiola said: “He has trained well and we are happy, he has trained three or four days, we are happy to see him back on the field after a long time.”
Gabriel Jesús, the other number 9 of Guardiola’s front line, is still unavailable due to a muscle problem. “He has an injury in the part of his leg where if he gets injured more he could be out for a long time,” said the coach. “I don’t know if he will return to the Champions League.”
