Kesgrave shooting: teenager in court charged with assault on schoolboy

A 15-year-old boy has appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of a boy of the same age who was shot in the face while walking to school.

The shooting occurred at the Grange Farm in Kesgrave, Suffolk, around 08:40 BST on Monday.

The victim remains in critical condition in the hospital.

The defendant, who cannot be identified due to his age, appeared in Ipswich Crown Court, where he was taken into custody for a guilty hearing on December 7.

A provisional trial date was set for January 25, 2021.

Hours earlier, the boy appeared at the Norwich Juvenile Court, where the victim was heard to have been shot in the face, allegedly after a confrontation.

The defendant, from the Woodbridge area, is also charged with possession of a firearm, a Beretta 12 gauge over and under shotgun, with the intent to cause fear in another person, and possession of a firearm with the intention to endanger life.
