Rio Ferdinand says Liverpool need to put the loss to Atalanta behind him and bounce back, just as Manchester United used to do with Sir Alex Ferguson.
The Red Devils enjoyed great success with Ferguson, and Ferdinand believes this was in large part due to the team possessing a positive attitude.
Ferguson was never overly excited whether Manchester United won or lost, according to Ferdinand, and instead kept his players focused on the task at hand.
“It was never too high when we won and never too low when we lost,” Ferdinand said, suggesting that Jurgen Klopp should take the same approach after Liverpool’s loss to Atalanta.
“That was one of the great things I learned when I went to Manchester United.

“I used to be depressed when we lost or didn’t perform well, and I used to have that hangover for about three or four days.
“A great club like Liverpool, where they are now, they come back every two or three days, so they can’t afford to have that.”
Ferguson was known for his hair dryer treatment, in which he screamed so loud in a player’s face it would be as if they were drying off.
But Ferdinand said this would only really come to light if things were going too well, to ensure that players stayed on their toes.
“The hair dryer, to be honest with you, usually came out when you were doing well. Usually it was to keep you in that rich vein of form and to stop that complacency,” Ferdinand added.
“I think great managers and good leaders are afraid of complacency, afraid of resting on their laurels. You have to make sure people are always on edge, making sure they don’t get off track and become complacent.
“It’s tough. Liverpool’s streak at the moment, and being in a winning dressing room, it may be easier for some players to start taking their foot off the gas.”
“You need the Milners, the Hendersons, Van Dijks, etc. to make sure you step on the people who do that.”
