Jurgen Klopp says he was never worried about Roberto Firmino’s lack of goals after he led Liverpool to a 2-1 win over Tottenham.
After Son Heung-min canceled Mohamed Salah’s first match in the first half, Firmino took it upon himself to steal the show at the end.
The Brazilian’s injury time winner was only his third of the season and both Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah have surpassed No. 9 at Anfield in the past two seasons.
However, Klopp says he hopes Firmino will “never doubt himself” when a sterile period arises by praising the forward’s comprehensive contribution to Liverpool’s cause.
“I just hope he never doubts himself, there’s a lot of talk about it, but I just said ‘Bobby, you scored,'” Klopp said.
“He scores goals and the important ones for us. And it’s not so much about who scores them because for us the only thing that matters is the ball in the back of the net.
“For us it is about the road, how we get there, things like crossing, passing, finishing. But racing to break through, not everyone sees that.

“I get it, but I’m not surprised that Bobby scored goals. I’m happy he scored tonight because it was also very important to him but more important to us.”

With 2,000 fans at Anfield to witness a late winner, Klopp was asked if the game resembled certain parts of last season.
The Liverpool manager admitted that he could see similarities, even if he didn’t reflect too much on the title-winning campaign last time.
He added: “It felt a bit like that.
“I’m not too much of last season to be honest, but I can understand people who think it was like last season.
“It was one of our best performances in a while, that’s the way it is. We’ve had some like against the Wolves, 10 days ago or whatever.
“That was a great game and we play football from time to time and that’s why we have the amount of points that we have.”
