JESY Nelson’s ex Chris Hughes sent his support for the star after she announced that she had left Little Mix.
The 29-year-old singer caused a stir tonight when she confirmed that she was leaving the group after nine years due to the “toll” it had on her mental health.
Jesy has been inundated with love and support from both fans and celebrities, including her Little Mix bandmates.
Chris, 27, was among the supporters, sending a sweet message to the star eight months after their split.
Commenting on the emotional statement Jesy shared on her Instagram account, the former Love Island star wrote, “The best ❤️.”
The couple split in April after a 16-month affair, but there is no grudge between the couple, as the heartthrob previously promoted Little Mix’s BBC talent show The Search in September.
Chris opened up about his breakup with Jesy in July, admitting that it was the first time he had ever really felt heartbroken.
Speaking on the Vicky Pattison podcast, she explained, “People can see it in your face.
“You can look sad on your face, without really putting on a sad face, which I found out … but everyone says, ‘You’ve come back to yourself, now,’ that’s okay.”
Both stars have been on their way, and The Sun exclusively revealed in August that Chris is dating stunning model Mary Bedford.
Meanwhile, Jesy has a crush on Our Girl hunk, Sean Sagar.
The beauty has been praised by fans devastated for doing the best for her mental health after she announced her shocking decision today.
She explained in the statement: “The truth is that being in the band recently has really affected my sanity. I find the constant pressure of being in a girl group and living up to expectations very difficult.
“I need to spend some time with the people I love, doing things that make me happy.
“I am ready to embark on a new chapter in my life. I’m not sure what it will be like now, but I hope you are still there to support me.”
And while fans were understandably devastated by his decision, they insisted it was the right decision and praised the fearless star for putting his mental well-being first.
Jesy has been open about her battle for mental health over the years, courageously sharing the devastating impact years of trolling online had in her BBC documentary Odd One Out, which featured Chris.
In the film, which won a National Television Award, Jesy spoke candidly about her struggle in Little Mix, revealing how she would starve for days during the deepest moments of her depression, due to constant problems with her weight and appearance. .
Speaking of the impact it had on her, she shared: “I just wanted to be Jesy. I didn’t want to be fat Jesy.
“I wanted people to see me as a normal person, so I punished myself. I starved myself to death.”
The star’s Little Mix bandmates have released a statement sharing their support for her decision to leave, as well as confirming that her 2021 tour will continue as scheduled.
They wrote, “After 9 incredible years together, Jesy has made the decision to leave Little Mix. This is an incredibly sad time for all of us, but we fully support Jesy.
“We love her very much and agree that it is very important that she do the right thing for her mental health and well-being. We are still really enjoying our Little Mix journey and the three of us are not ready for it to happen.
“We know that Jesy leaving the group is going to be really disturbing news for our fans. We love them very much and are very grateful for their loyalty and continued support from all of us.
“We hope to see many of you on the tour.”
In November, a Little Mix representative confirmed that Jesy was taking “extended time off” for “private medical reasons.”
They said at the time: “Jesy is taking extended time off from Little Mix for private medical reasons.
“We will not comment further at this time and ask the media to respect their privacy at this time.”
It came two weeks after she missed the grand finale of the band’s television talent show The Search, as well as her high-profile stint as an MTV EMA host.
The Sun then revealed that Jade, Perrie, and Leigh-Anne will be going solo, with each participating in secret plans to launch individual races next year at the end of their existing deal.
However, Jade has insisted that the group “will never die”, even if the girls end up branching out.
Little Mix was formed on The X Factor in 2011, becoming the first band to win the show.
Together they have sold more than 50 million records, landing two Brit Awards, four number one singles, and releasing six albums along the way.
