An investigation is underway following a serious fire in an abandoned nursing home in Truro.
The fire took place in an abandoned residential home in Trennick Villas in the early hours of this morning (August 31).
A spokesman for the Cornwall Fire and Rescue service confirmed: “A fire investigation is under way.”
Footage from the scene shows that the fire has caused considerable damage to the building, which was previously bricked up.
The roof has collapsed and there appears to be substantial damage to the interior.
Firefighters were called to the scene for the first time around 2.30am.
Crews at the scene reported to Critical Control that it was a two-story building that was well lit, where the fire had spread to the ceiling in several locations.
A total of 16 fire service vehicles, including eight major appliances, were recruited from various stations in Cornwall.
Police officers and paramedics were also called to the scene. There have been no reports of injuries at this stage.
Malpas Road was closed for several hours while emergency services dealt with the fire. The road has now been reopened.
