A HUMAN body was found in an empty flat in West London after neighbors reported “bad smells” that lasted at least two weeks.
Detectives are investigating the “unexplained death” and declined to comment on local claims that the body was packed in a suitcase.
Forensic experts were seen entering the property over a parade of shops in Southall following the grim discovery just before 3 p.m. Friday.
Unconfirmed reports claimed that a painter made the shocking discovery after entering the vacant flat on Friday afternoon, with locals claiming they discovered the “body of a woman.”
Neighbors had reportedly detected a “bad smell” that had lasted for weeks.
Locals have claimed that the body found was “stuffed inside a suitcase inside an abandoned property.”
Tents at the parade said police had visited Friday night looking for CCTV footage.
Police are currently trying to identify the body, which is believed to be a woman, and so far no arrests have been made.
The Met said in a statement: “Police were called at 2:53 PM on Friday, December 18, to an address in The Crescent, Southall UB1, after a deceased person was found.
“Investigations to identify the deceased are ongoing.
“Death is currently being treated as inexplicable.
“Officials are no longer discussing the circumstances of the discovery at this stage.
“There have been no arrests.
“Officers remain at the scene and investigations continue.”
