Suffolk is set to move to Level 4 Covid-19 restrictions after a sudden spike in cases, but how long will the county keep the more severe restrictions?
West Suffolk MP and Health Secretary Matt Hancock announced yesterday that Suffolk, as well as Norfolk, Essex and other parts of the Southeast and East Anglia, will move to the stricter restrictions.
The measure means that from 00.01 am on Boxing Day, stricter rules will apply.
Current Christmas Day rules on domestic mixing are allowed to continue.
The rules include:
You may also want to see:
- Do not socialize with anyone outside your home or bubble of support in any indoor setting.
- Do not socialize with anyone outside of your home or support bubble in any outdoor setting.
- You should avoid traveling outside of your local area, except in exceptional circumstances.
- You should work from home if possible. When you can’t, you can continue traveling to the workplace.
- Non-essential retail businesses, lodging providers, indoor sports and leisure facilities, entertainment venues, indoor attractions, personal care facilities, and community rooms should close.
- Hospitality venues such as pubs, bars, cafes, and restaurants must close except for Take Out (until 11 PM), Delivery, Self-Service, and Click-and-Pick Service.
When will Suffolk get out of Level 4 restrictions?
The next revision of the rules will take place on December 30.
However, with Suffolk just moving towards the stricter rules, it seems unlikely that the level will be lowered.
After this review, another should occur two weeks later. However, no date has been confirmed.
With rates on the rise in all regions of Suffolk and North Essex, a change of fortune would have to occur before the government was willing to lower the level.
In the most recent update, the government said: “The government keeps the data under constant review and will take immediate action to protect local communities.”
