THE HARD GOES ON
Tottenham Hotspur’s key attacking assets made significant statements on Gameweek 9 as both Harry kane (£ 11.0 million) and Son Heung-min (£ 9.5 million) posted attacking returns against Manchester City.
Both players saw interest in their services wane during the international break as Fantasy Premier League coaches found their upcoming matches increasingly difficult.
But possibly with the toughest out of the way, Kane and Son owners are likely to be much more encouraged to hang on to the dynamic duo.
As predicted by his most loyal fans, Son was able to expose Manchester City’s high defensive line at key moments Saturday night.
He found space behind the bottom line of the Citizens already in the fifth minute later Tanguy Ndombèlé (£ 5.9m) played an insightful ball over the top.
That was a 10-point loot for Son, his fifth double-digit Gameweek score of the 2020/21 campaign. Very impressive when you consider that he has produced exactly six of these in each of the last four Premier League seasons.
Meanwhile, Kane made a man of the match, impressing primarily off the ball with his contribution to holding the ball and relieving pressure on his teammates, who spent most of the game defending against Manchester City’s much of possession. (65.6%).

That allowed Kane to fulfill more of the role of a creator, as we have become used to this season, attending Young Lo Celso (£ 6.9 million) for a 16th hitting comeback in nine games.

Fantasy coaches may be experiencing the opposite problem with Manchester City, considering they are about to embark on a string of positive matches, but they seem to lack the attacking resources.
Although they registered their first target of the season, it was not due to lack of attempts, as Pep Guardiola’s men dominated possession and shot counting (22 to four).
Kevin De Bruyne (£ 11.6m) pounced on a fumble in the box early in the first half, his shot likely ending up in the back of the net if not for an offside Gabriel Jesus (£ 9.3 million) getting in the way.
Aymeric laporte (£ 6.0 million) actually scored after a takedown of Jesus, only to see it ruled out for a handball against City’s number nine.
De Bruyne fired wide from the edge of the area in the 50th minute earlier Ruben Dias (£ 5.5m) topped the Belgian’s late free kick straight to Hugo Lloris (£ 5.5 million) when it really should have scored.
The fact that Burnley, Fulham and West Bromwich Albion are three of Manchester City’s next three opponents is reason to believe that those who came close to attacking Spurs may fulfill their promise in the near future.
The return of Sergio Aguero (£ 10.3 million) up to full fitness is also worth considering. An additional option for Guardiola can only improve the credentials of the midfielders on offer, although it also increases the risk of rotation for Jesus.
