BARKLEY ON THE WRONG TREE

A second minute muscle injury to Ross Barkley (£ 6.0m) turned out to be a huge key in the works, as Aston Villa’s key Fantasy Premier League assets were left blank on Gameweek 9.

The former Everton player has enjoyed an excellent bonding game with Jack grealish (£ 7.6 million) this season and has arguably been a factor in his impressive form.

Taking Barkley out of the picture so early in Saturday’s meeting with Brighton restricted Grealish’s Fantasy potential and, like Dean Smith, his 40.3% ownership will await positive news at the upcoming press conference.

“(Barkley) felt his hamstring just two minutes into the game. We will first have to scan it to see how bad it is. He seems pretty hopeful that it won’t take long, but we’ll just have to wait and see after this game. “- Dean Smith

Surprisingly right-wing Bertrand traore (£ 5.9m) was chosen as Barkley’s direct replacement at No. 10, a role he failed to fulfill as well as his predecessor.

The resulting effect was that Grealish eventually switched with Traoré, squeezing into a more central station, somewhere where he is less dangerous than on the left, where he can terrorize both wingers and centrals with straight runs from the flanks.

Grealish also moved a lot to the right in the second half. This change in positions and the lack of the Barkley spark would never provide the perfect conditions for a Grealish tour, unfortunately.

Furthermore, in completely unforeseen circumstances, it turns out that Traoré is above Grealish in the set-piece pecking order, despite not being a starter at the club.

He took a large number of corners from Villa and provided assistance for Ezri Konsa(4.7 million pounds) goal in the second half from a free throw.

Needless to say, no Fantasy manager could have seen these events prior to Gameweek 9, so the group that captained Grealish shouldn’t be punished for that decision.

In the future, their owners will expect one of two things. Either that Barkley won’t be absent long-term or that Smith can find a way to get the best out of Grealish consistently without him on the team.

DANNY BOY

Danny Welbeck in action for Brighton

Still operating firmly under the Fantasy radar, Danny Welbeck (£ 5.5 million) is slowly becoming the main threat to the Brighton target.

He may only have started two games for the Seagulls, but his performances have been really promising.

After getting closer to scoring in Gameweek 8’s goalless draw against Burnley, Welbeck returned to lead Brighton’s line for the second straight outing, relegating Neal maupay (£ 6.4 million) to an offensive midfield support role alongside Adam Lallana (6.2 million pounds sterling).

The former Manchester United and Arsenal striker made good on the promise of his full debut for Brighton at Villa Park, using his exceptional pace to get behind defense and score the opening goal on Saturday.

Unlikely to lose his starting spot after two spirited performances, at £ 5.5 million, Welbeck could prove decent value when Brighton’s turn becomes more attractive with a trip to Fulham on Gameweek 13.

Aston Villa XI (4-2-3-1): Martinez; Targett, Mings, Konsa, Cash; McGinn, D Luiz (Hourihane 75 ‘); Grealish, Barkley (B Traoré 5 ′ | El Ghazi 74 ′), Trézéguet; Watkins.

Brighton and Hove Albion XI (3-4-2-1): Ryan; Webster, Dunk, White; March, Groß (Molumby 90 + 6 ′), Bissouma, Lamptey; Maupay (Burn 80 ′), Lallana (Veltman 46 ′); Welbeck.
