For comparison, seven days ago 431 people died of Covid-19 in UK hospitals.
At the time, that was the highest number of deaths in hospitals Thursday since May.
The high death toll comes as the government prepares to divide England into three different tiers.
Starting next Wednesday, villages, towns, and cities will be placed on Tier 1, 2, or 3.
Today it was announced that only the Isle of Wight, the Isles of Scilly and Cornwall will be on the first tier.
Some 32 million people in England, just over 57% of the population, will be at Level 2.
A total of 23.3 million people in England, 41.5% of the population, will be in Level 3 of the government’s Covid-19 restrictions as of December 2.
