The Racing Post understands that the UK government will announce the limited reopening of stadiums and sports venues, including racetracks, when it reveals plans for what will replace the English national lockdown on December 2.

Up to 4,000 people will be admitted to outdoor sports facilities in the areas of the country least affected by Covid-19 at level 1, a number that would drop to 2,000 at level 2, The Times reported.

The sport would remain behind closed doors at Level 3 under the zoning system the prime minister is expected to announce to the House of Commons on Monday afternoon.

The Times also tweeted that questions remain about whether gambling shops will be allowed to open at any of the tiers.

British races have been held behind closed doors since their return to action on June 1, with the exception of two small drivers’ meetings at Doncaster and Warwick in September.

While much of the country is expected to be under fairly strict measures under renewed Tier 2 and 3 regimes to be announced on Thursday, some assistance can be expected in various locations starting December 3, the day after England. -the general blockade officially ends.

The races will be held in Wincanton, Leicester and Market Rasen that day, but the last two courses are in areas with infection rates per 100,000 people, leaving them vulnerable to being discarded.

That leaves Wincanton as the early favorite to become the first place to welcome a significant crowd.

On Saturday 5 December the Betfair Tingle Creek meeting is held in Sandown, although both London and the South East have seen an increase in the number of cases over the last week.

It seems unlikely that Cheltenham will be placed at level 3, which means that crowds on a certain scale could be admitted for the two-day International Gathering on December 11-12.
