‘Help him!’ Edinburgh locals speak of horror of ‘double stabbing’ on street when two men rushed to hospital

Horrified neighbors have described the aftermath of an alleged double stabbing on their street this afternoon.

Police and paramedics rushed to the Pleasance in Edinburgh shortly after lunchtime.

Two men, aged 44 and 35, were rushed to hospital with “serious” injuries. A third man, 44, was later arrested in connection with the incident.

A neighbor said: “I heard a man yelling help, help, help and a neighbor said he saw him covered in blood lying on the road.

“We heard that two were stabbed.”

Another added: “I was about to take the dog out and there were two guys lying on the road.

“One had his shirt pulled up and you could see he had been stabbed. He was covered in blood, he didn’t look very good.

“The other yelled to ask if he was okay and just raised his hand.

“I don’t know if it happened on the street or on the stairs, but there have been a lot of problems around here.”

Scottish Police officers assured the public that there was no risk following the incident.

There were reports of traffic delays and bus detours when the police closed the street.

Police closed the street when forensic teams were called.

Forensic teams have been seen on the residential street as police seal off the area around the incident.

Clothing can also be strewn across the pavement while officers stand guard.

A Scottish Police spokesman said: “A Scottish Police spokesman said:” We received a report around 1:40 pm on Friday 16 October of a disturbance at Pleasance in Edinburgh.

Two men, aged 44 and 35, have been transferred to the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh with serious injuries. A third man, 44, has been arrested in connection with the incident.

“Investigations into the incident are ongoing and the road is currently closed between West Richmond Street and New Arthur Place.”
