Heartwarming tributes have been paid to a university student who died a few weeks after moving to Newcastle.

Jeni Larmour, from Newtownhamilton, in County Armagh, Northern Ireland, moved northeast only in August.

The 18-year-old, a Newcastle University student, was found unconscious when police were called to an accommodation on Richardson Road shortly after 6 a.m. Saturday.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of supplying a class B drug and has since been released on police bail.

Northumbria Police are conducting a full-scale investigation into Jeni’s death, as well as the loss of three other youths over the weekend. Drugs are suspected of being a factor in all four deaths.

Now Jeni’s friends have been paying her emotional tributes on social media, describing her as a “beautiful young lady” and “an angel.”

One person wrote on Facebook: “Jeni Larmour, taken too early with such a bright future ahead of her. Sending love to the whole family ”.

Another added: “We will miss you so much Jeni Larmour, it was a pleasure meeting you! X “

And a message read: “Rest in peace beautiful, taken too soon.”

A friend said: “Heaven has won another angel. Sleep well Jeni Larmour.

“Taken too soon with such a bright future ahead … Sending love to the whole family.”

A spokesperson for the University of Newcastle, where Jeni was studying architecture and urban planning, said on Sunday: “We are shocked and saddened to learn of the death of one of our students and our welfare teams are offering support to those affected.

“This is not related to Covid and as this is an active police investigation, we are unable to offer further comment at this time.”
