Manchester United captain Harry Maguire produced one of the season’s most extraordinary misses from one yard against AC Milan.
A United corner was thrown by Bruno Fernandes at the far post, where Maguire was entering with the goal at his mercy. Maguire was completely alone, it seemed easier to score than to miss, but somehow he made the ball shine against the post.
The ball shot out and Maguire himself collided with the post, looking completely surprised that the ball was not in the back of the net. Like everyone else who was watching or on the field at the time.
BT Sport commentator Ian Darke called it a “math defying” mistake, and it’s hard to disagree. Maguire himself stood at the net for a brief moment, wondering why the ball wasn’t there with him.
Milan’s remarkable departure at Old Trafford in the first leg of the Europa League round of 16. But to be fair, the visitors had earned the right to break into the break level at 0-0.
However, the VAR ruled out the strike because the ball (perhaps) brushed against Kessie’s hand before he turned and fired home.
WHAT. A STRIKE. :rocket:

Milan were the brightest team for much of the first half. But with the score level at 0-0 (somehow), it was all to play in the second half.
