At least five people were injured after a car drove up the sidewalk and struck pedestrians in North London.
Four of the adults were taken to a major trauma center, the London Ambulance Service said, while another person was transported to hospital by a Hatzola (volunteer) ambulance team.
At the scene, in Stamford Hill, what appeared to be broken glass surrounded a partially ruined bus stop.
Images on social media showed a silver Toyota with severe damage to its hood and front tires, apparently colliding with a tree outside a mini market.
Passersby, many from the Orthodox Jewish community, watched as police cordoned off a large area.
Several police cars, ambulances and at least one fire truck were sighted.
Scotland Yard said it happened shortly after 9.30am, adding that the incident is not being treated as terrorism-related and no arrests have been made.
A spokeswoman for the London Ambulance Service said crews were called at 9.37am
“We dispatched a number of resources to the scene, including six ambulance teams, an incident response officer, a medic in a car, a team leader, and our hazardous area response teams,” he said.
“Five adults were treated at the scene. We took four to a major trauma center and one person was taken to the hospital by an ambulance team from Hatzola.”
