Romain Grosjean has sent a message of gratitude to the Bahraini bailiffs who assisted in his extraction after his horrible incident on the first lap of the Bahrain Grand Prix.
Grosjean remains in the hospital as he continues treatment for burns suffered while escaping the burning wreck of his Haas that became entangled with the retention barrier at the exit of turn three.
The Frenchman was able to escape relatively unscathed thanks to the swift work of the FIA medical team of Dr. Ian Roberts and Alan van der Merwe, as well as the valiant efforts of volunteers at the Sakhir International Circuit.
In a video on his Instagram account, Grosjean paid tribute to the work of quarterbacks in the effort to save his life.
“Hello everyone, I just wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the effort, the work, the initiative and everything you did,” said Grosjean.
“You helped me out of that big fire and kept me alive, so thank you very much. We need you for the races and I will always be grateful that you were there for me.”
