Masked thugs threatened staff at knife point during a terrible robbery at a Greggs store this morning.
Police are asking for witnesses after thieves broke into bakers in Liverpool Shopping Park on Edge Lane this morning.
The two masked men, one brandishing a knife, helped themselves get cash after threatening staff around 6.25am
Police are now pursuing the men behind the heinous armed robbery.
Although no one was injured, understandably, staff have been shocked by what detectives called “despicable” scenes.
A Merseyside Police spokesman said: “At around 6.25am, officers were called to Greggs on Edge Lane to report that two men had entered, one of whom was in possession of a knife.
“Threats were made to staff and cash was taken. No one was injured, although staff were understandably shocked and supported by officers.”
Forensic, CCTV and witness investigations continue at the scene.
The suspects are described as white and between 30 and 40 years old, dressed in dark clothing and face covers.

Detective Inspector Amy Smith said: “This was a terrible experience for the staff members, and we will be offering support as our initial investigations continue.
“Being threatened at your workplace is despicable and we will work closely with all local businesses to inform them of this incident, and also to make sure that we do everything possible to find those responsible and bring them to justice.
“If you were near Greggs and you saw two men acting suspiciously, or fleeing after the incident, please notify us and we will take action.”
