Greg Norman is back in Florida hospital with “horrible” Covid-19 symptoms after the great Australian golfer tested positive.
The 65-year-old, whose two major titles came at the Open in 1986 and 1993, has been posting regular updates on his diagnosis on his Instagram page.
Initially testing negative at the PNC Orlando exhibition championship, which took place Dec. 19-20, later in the week he began to experience fever, joint and muscle pain.
Norman visited the hospital on Christmas Day and came home to isolate himself on Boxing Day while he awaited the results of another test.
“I hope this is my last update on this COVID saga … back in the hospital after testing positive,” he wrote on Instagram, adding that he was receiving an antibody infusion. “The road to full recovery. Hoping to get out later today. “
Norman said that despite being fit, strong and having a high tolerance for pain, the “hideous” virus had “kicked me like never before.”
“Muscle and joint pain to another level. Headaches that feel like a chisel running through your head scraping bits each time, fever, muscles that just didn’t want to work like yesterday walking my dog Apollo, my quads and hip flexors just didn’t want to work due to fatigue .
“Then my taste failed, where beer tastes bad and wine the same … sometimes struggling with the memory of names and things.”
Norman’s son, also named Greg, had played with his father in the PNC Championship and has already confirmed that he and his wife tested positive.
