How much would you be willing to pay for fish and chips from a restaurant?
Would you be willing to spend £ 18.50 for the classic dish?
That’s what Gordon Ramsay’s version costs at his London House brasserie.
The celebrity chef was previously criticized by fans after he revealed the contents of his £ 19 fry at his Savoy Grill restaurant.
And a customer left a furious review online after spending £ 23 for steak and fries in York and Albany in London.
But the chef has faced additional beating after sharing a video of his version of the beach favorite, available to take away at his restaurant in Battersea, southwest London.
The caption read: “You can’t beat a London House classic … and this one is to go !!”
The video showed a piece of fish dipped in flour and batter before placing it in the deep fryer.
A basket of potato chips is dipped in oil, while the fish is fried, before being removed and covered with salt.
But people weren’t very impressed with the next part of the video, which shows the dish in a takeout box.
Seven chips are added to the box, along with a dollop of tartar sauce and mushy peas, a curried lemon sauce, before adding the crispy-looking fish.
The TV chef is well known for his own blistering attacks, and fans were not shy about doling out their own in the comment section on Twitter.
One said, “Fish batter doesn’t even look good, it’s stingy on French fries and mushy peas, and altogether costs 10 times more than local porridge and isn’t half as nice.”
One second he joked: “Where’s the rest of the chips? I’ve seen more chips in a seagull’s mouth !!!”
Another wrote: “£ 18.50? I mean if it came with 8 or 9 chips I’d think about it, but 7 is kidding.”
A fourth said: “There were 9 fries in the bowl and 7 in the box. So for eighteen pounds you’re also feeding the staff.
“And it looks like the fish has been on a diet too. Don’t think I’ll be upset.”
Others joked: “The fish must still be alive because it looks like it has eaten the rest of the potatoes,” while another added: “
But some defended the portion, arguing, “It’s a high-end restaurant, not the local restaurant around the corner.”
A second added: “This is the most attractive fish and chips I’ve ever seen. I can’t wait to go back to the UK and try it.”
