GOOD MORNING Fans in Britain cried this morning at the sight of a 99-year-old war veteran who is raising funds for the NHS marching through his garden.
But they were surprised when host Piers Morgan announced that he was making a donation of £ 10,000 of his own money to help Captain Tom Moore reach his goal of £ 500,000.
The World War II veteran, who is doing 100 stretches of his yard before turning 100 at the end of the month, was still far from the amount he hoped to raise when Piers made his generous gesture.
The 55-year-old host said, “Captain Tom Moore, thank you for serving your country. I am so glad that we were able, through the brilliant NHS, to serve you back and continue.
“Good luck. I want you to go overboard today. This is what I am going to do, Tom. I am going to put £ 10,000 of my own money into your fundraiser today and I hope that encourages everyone to look at home. do the same.
“Small or small, do what you can do. We are going to take you more than half a million. You have 10 thousand of me.”
