Pete Sandiford has confirmed that he is engaged to his girlfriend Paige Yeomans after casually dropping the news on Gogglebox tonight.
The 26-year-old revealed that he would soon be a husband while chatting with his younger sister Sophie during the first episode of the new series.
Sophie had asked her brother, “Do you feel different now that you are engaged?”
“Yes, I think,” he replied. “I feel like an even bigger responsibility. I don’t know why. I’m going to have a wife.”
“Yes, you are going to have a wife,” Sophie pointed out.
And fans were completely stunned, but flocked to Twitter to congratulate him on the news.
One tweeted: “PETE GOT ENGAGED! Amazing #Gogglebox.”
While another commented: “IN NO WAY IS PETE ENGAGED”.
A third wrote: “IS PETE ENGAGED? OMG !! #Gogglebox”.
Sophie went on to ask who her godfather would be.
“Well, she’s going to be my best woman, right?” Pete replied. “It will be you.”
“Right,” Sophie joked with a smile. “Of course he will! I will not wear a tux, I will wear my own dress.”
Pete exclaimed, “Woah! You’re going to have to wear a suit.”
“I’m not wearing a damn suit,” he replied.
When she asked why, Sophie replied, “No way … listen! Right, I actually know your friends, I won’t copy any of them. I’ll bring mine!”
Pete shared the first photo of his now-fiancée in October of last year as the couple huddled for a selfie.
He had captioned the image: “My lady and best friend, what more could you ask for? Don’t worry @ sophiesandiford1, you are a close second best friend.”
Her younger sister, Sophie, had replied, “I love you very much.”
The couple have been incredibly quiet about their romance, and Paige’s social media remains private.
