MANCHESTER UNITED legend Gary Neville revealed that he refused to pay £ 14.95 to see the club’s 4-1 win at Newcastle on Saturday.
The 45-year-old, who criticized the Red Devils for joking that fans could not enter St James’ Park before kickoff, followed the game on Sky Sports News.
Neville stated that he did not pay £ 14.95 to watch the match, although he showed his joy at the club’s victory by posting a selfie of him with a glass of wine.
During the later stages of the match, the former Valencia player uploaded the drunk snap, prompting Jamie Carragher to ask, “So you paid for the PPV?
To which Neville commented: “Sky Sports News James.”
He then went on to tweet a selfie of him watching Sky Sports News, showing United leading Newcastle 3-1, before Marcus Rashford scored in the 96th minute.
But fans have not been convinced that Neville did not see the game, as they pointed to a reflection in his wine glass that seemed to show the game that was being played.
An eagle-eyed fan said, “Gary, what about the reflection of the game on the glass?
Another message read: “Say you transmit illegally with your chest.”
A third added, “Gary, it’s okay, we’re all looking for live football broadcast.”
Meanwhile, one joked, “Admit it, you’re broadcasting it illegally.”
Neville also poked fun at Carragher on Saturday after Liverpool scored a spectacular VAR win against Everton.
Carragher tweeted a number of laughing face emojis, before quickly posting ‘remove, remove, remove’ after the VAR deemed Sadio Mane offside.
His Sky Sports colleague reveled in his misery, uploading a smug selfie after the Merseyside derby ended in a draw.
