Gary Lineker has praised Liverpool youngster Curtis Jones.
The midfielder had an excellent performance in the Reds’ 2-1 win over Spurs, helping his team dominate possession before Roberto Firmino’s late goal sealed all three points.
The 19-year-old’s excellent form has continued so far this season as he has cemented a regular spot in Jurgen Klopp’s starting eleven.
Her performance garnered praise from Match of the Day host Lineker, who spoke about Jones’ potential on social media.
Lineker tweeted: “What a lovely footballer Curtis Jones is. He’s going to be a great player.”
Many Reds fans responded to Lineker in agreement.
“What’s scary is that it’s even better than it’s showing right now,” one replied. “He’s doing what all young players do initially, bowing down to the older players at times.”
“But once he starts to feel like he belongs on the team, you watch him go! His passing range is ridiculous.”
Another added: “He deserves his place on the side.”
A third fan said: “He was definitely inspired by Steven Gerrard. He’s a special young talent.”
After the game, Amazon Prime insider and Lineker’s Match of the Day colleague Alan Shearer also spoke about Jones’ performance.

Shearer praised both Jones and his teammate Rhys Williams for the way they handled the pressure in a tense clash at the top of the table.
He said: “We have mentioned the two young men and I will mention them again, I do not apologize for that.
“For two 19-year-olds to come in and perform as they did, under pressure, with big boots to fill, and tonight they never missed anyone.”
