An intriguing clause in Gareth Bale’s contract at Tottenham has emerged after his arrival.

The Welsh international was officially confirmed on Saturday after agreeing to a season-long loan from Real Madrid.

Bale had grown tired of the treatment Zinedine Zidane had given him, while the Frenchman had also ended his antics.

The Spurs emerged as a potential destination in a deal that works for all parties.

José Mourinho was the man behind the play, pushing Daniel Levy to a transfer, while Real defender Sergio Reguilón has also joined in a separate deal.

Bale’s return to Tottenham after seven years has certainly thrilled the fans.

But there could be reason for more joy with a clause that means he could stay even longer than one season.

According to Football London, Tottenham will have the option to extend the loan for another year.

However, that is only if the move is a success and all parties agree, and all are interested in seeing that agreement happen.

If that happens, Bale will reach the end of his contract at the Bernabéu and will most likely leave as a free agent.

So it’s not outside the realms of imagination that the forward signs a permanent North London deal.

Spurs are also earning less than their salary, with Real Madrid agreeing to pay 60 percent of their massive salary package, Football London reports.

Bale is back at the Spurs

His current salary is reportedly worth £ 600,000 a week and has proven to be a sticking point for clubs trying to negotiate a deal with Real Madrid.

Tottenham had been in the race, as had Manchester United.

But the Spurs finally got their man after Bale reached breaking point with Zidane and the Real fans.

“It’s good to be back. It’s a very special club for me. It’s where I made a name for myself,” Bale said.

“Hopefully now I can get fit for the game, get going and really help the team and hopefully win trophies.”

However, the Welshman will not make his debut until next month at the earliest with an injury that will rule him out for four weeks.
