Funding for Rapid Testing as Covid-19 Testing Fears Increase for Mental Health Personnel

QUEEN’S University Belfast has received funding to develop a rapid diagnostic test for Covid-19.

The goal of the test is to find a highly accurate test that can show results in one hour, eliminating the need to send tests to a laboratory.

Meanwhile, the Mental Health Commission has said there are still “major inconsistencies” in tests of mental health personnel for Covid-19.

He said that while several services now reported that the staff tests were planned, others reported that they were still waiting to hear about the tests.

And the number of patients at the Irish coronavirus hospital continues to decline.

At 8pm Sunday, 665 confirmed coronavirus cases and 241 patients suspected of having the virus were in hospitals here, down from a total of 950 the day before.

93 confirmed cases of Covid-19 are being treated in Irish ICUs and 20 suspected coronavirus cases are in critical care units, according to the latest HSE figures.
