Our Norwich City chief reporter, David Freezer, has posted his marks following the Canarias 3-1 win at Bristol City in the Championship.
• Tim Krul
Magnificent save to deny a Chris Martin header when the score was 2-1 and fingertips in a brilliant effort by the former City player in the second half. He made the save before the goal before Bristol saved the chance, as well as a lot more solid work. 8
• Max Aarons
The attacking position was exploited for Bristol’s goal, but he participated in a good play forward, finding the side net with a shot. A beautiful one-two with Emi Buendia, but the pair also exchanged annoying words after a movement was broken. 6
• Grant Hanley
Outnumbered by the Robins goal, but otherwise got back to doing a great deal of work. Aggressive in its approach, dominating in the air. Look more comfortable with each game. 7
• Ben Gibson
Third booking of the season for a clumsy but necessary tackle on Callum O’Dowda, but another quiet start, with lots of good aerial work. Good long pass to get Buendía out before the third goal. 7
• Jacob Sorensen
He deserved a warning for hitting Jack Hunt and awarded the penalty, to dull a lovely pass to set up Pukki’s second goal. He doesn’t look particularly comfortable as a left back, but he has done a job that City fans will expect to see in midfield now. 6
• Oliver Skipp
Tenacious and perhaps a bit more energetic than recent outings, but efficient rather than exciting, providing a defensive base but failed to exert control. 6
• Lukas Rupp
You just can’t buy a goal. He really should have done better after Gibson nodded at a Buendia corner in the second half but fired wide. Energetic and appeared all over the field. 7
• Emi Buendia
Gibson’s classy pass control and clinical groove beyond Dan Bentley had City fans drool, a beautiful way to score his first goal of the season. Denied after Przemek Placheta played it fair but encouraged throughout. 8
• Marco Stiepermann
Back to Stiepermann from 2018-19 during the first half, with a superb pass for Teemu Pukki’s first goal after falling deep. He prepared the Finn for two more chances and his understanding returned with confidence. He shot some more and put Bentley to the test before he got tired, but it was also stolen before Martin hit the post. Big step forward. 8
• Przemek Placheta
Valuable run to get some sharpness in the match, but blew three good starts in the second half. Pace kept Bristol awake and racing helped create space for Pukki, but he has yet to find a way. 6
• Teemu Pukki
Two typical Pukki goals at this level set the game for City, clinically dispatched after excellent passes from Stiepermann and Placheta in the first 14 minutes. The second was with the help of a detour, but his clever move had earned that luck. Wasted opportunities to complete his hat-trick, but confidence steadily returns. 8
Substitutes
• Kenny McLean (by Stiepermann, 72)
He provided energy and broke the game, nodding at Placheta for an opportunity. 6
• Jordan Hugill (for Pukki, 84) n / a
• Bali Mumba (for Placheta, 90 + 1) n / a
