Niels Nkounkou may only have played a couple of games for Everton, but he’s already garnering attention.
The young left-back earned praise after his debut against Salford City in the Carabao Cup recently.
And the 19-year-old backed that up with another solid showing at the same competition in Fleetwood Town on Wednesday night.
Signed from Marseille over the summer, Nkounkou will look to challenge Lucas Digne for the Everton left-back position following Leighton Baines’ retirement.
And while other higher-profile signings may have made headlines, the teenager’s arrival certainly hasn’t gone entirely unnoticed.
Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock has called Nkounkou a “magnificent find”.
Warnock tweeted: “I have to say @Everton’s transfer business this summer has been great, but it’s not just household names that have impressed me, Niels Nkounkou is a gamer.

“A magnificent find. A bright future ahead and Digne has someone pushing it.”
Nkounkou played 90 minutes and Everton beat Fleetwood 5-2 to reserve their place in the fourth round of the competition, even providing a blatant assist for the final goal in the closing seconds.
