Former Everton and Manchester City star Gareth Barry says Liverpool’s Premier League win is ‘misleading’

Gareth Barry acknowledges that Liverpool’s points lead over Manchester City last season was “misleading”.

The Reds secured a long-awaited Premier League title for the first time in 30 years in June, and finished the campaign 18 points clear of Man City.

Jurgen Klopp’s team won a record 32 league games and suffered just three losses all season, racking up a remarkable 99-point tally.

Despite the impressive nature of Liverpool’s triumph, former Manchester City and Everton midfielder Barry acknowledges that the point difference was not a true reflection of the quality of the two teams.

“The 18 points is a bit misleading, that will hurt Manchester City the point difference between them last season,” said Barry, speaking on BBC 5Live.

He added: “The size of the Man City squad, the experience that Pep Guardiola has, will hurt him as much as it does to anyone, as it does to all the players.

“For Liverpool, it will be a little different for them, they will be the team to beat.
