‘Five people killed’ in the plane crash of two planes in France

Five people were killed after two tourist planes crashed in midair in France on Saturday afternoon.

A ULM (two person ultralight aircraft) crashed into a tourist plane in Loches, Indre-et-Loire, around 4.45 pm local time.

Reports claim that the two people on the ULM and three passengers on the tourist plane have died.

The tourist plane had taken off from the city of Poitiers, located about 100 km from Loches.

The flight path of the ULM remains unknown at this time.

The fatal collision occurred in mid-air over the entrance to the small town, on the Châteauroux side.

Nadia Seghier, secretary general of the prefecture of Indre-et-Loire, said that the small ULM fell near the city center “on the fence of a house in Loches, reports France Bleu.

The tourist plane, a DA40 type plane, crashed “several hundred meters away in an uninhabited area”, not far from the water tower.

No one on the ground was injured.

Around 50 firefighters and 30 gendarmes rushed to the scene, along with photos showing emergency vehicles and other cars reversed on a highway, while police have set up a perimeter to keep other drivers and pedestrians out.

The Loches gendarmerie brigade has launched investigations to determine the cause of the accident.

A 55-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman were killed in a ULM accident in Saint-Martin-de-London in August.

The ULM is believed to have struck a tree and caught fire at the end of a flight club runway
